Cheap Eats Bora Bora 2021
While Bora Bora has a many choices in great french/Tahitian inspired restaurants on the main island and within the many resorts. But the price points for many of these great culinary experiences can be a bit high! Usually ranging from 40USD/4,000XPF/35€ per person to much more depending on wether you will be ordering wine with your meal or not. But if you are looking for much more affordable and less formal offerings Here are a few suggestions:
Fare Manuia
This restaurant has formal dinning and a small sports bar. But right on the side of the road as you enter the restaurant is a wood fired pizza oven! The thin, crunchy wood fired dough is a delight, from classics such as the Margherita starting at 1,300xpf/13USD/11€ to the Maohi at 2,000XPF/20USD/18€ which is a take from a classic Tahitian staple dish “Puatoro” (corned beef) and some local favorites the 4 fromages 1700xpf/17USD/15€. A selection between 20 to 22 different pizzas will cover most palets. as or Feb 2021 delivery is available upon request.
Aito Hot Dog
Located in the middle of Vaitape, Sylvain has the best hotdogs on the island. an assortment of toppings and sauces. if you looking for something sweet he makes snow cones right from his cart along with a rainbow colored array of flavors He is only open for lunch from 10:30a to 2pm
Iaorana Gelato
Looking for something fresh and sweet, Iaorana Gelato is your stop. Located in a small strip mall, their variety of flavors are to die for! Not interested in sweets the have a small menu of savory and local favorites.
Roulottes
Roulottes are the equivalent of food trucks, usually located in Vaitape town, will start serving food right after sundown. Some local classics are Steak Frites, Chow mein, poisson crus to name a few. menu items starting around 1,000XPF/10USD/9€. Service starts around 6:30pm every nite to about 10pm
Roulotte Matira
This food truck has found a permanent home in Matira, as you’ll see when visiting this establishment he has made many nice improvements for your comfort! He offers the Tahitian food truck classics as well as some Indian inspired dishes (curry)
Chez Chris
Located in Town on the mountain side near the “Gendarmerie National” (federal police) serves all the local favorites: chow mien, “Steak Frite” with a selection of Pepper sauce, Rockford cheese cause or barbecue a generous portion one fries and there you go!
Roulotte Tereva
You can’t miss this one when passing by, its the only hot pink with the playboy logo on it. This is a perfect place to taste the local food truck classics such as the “Steak Frite” (Steak and fries) A generous portion of Fries a couple nicely marinated slices of meet cooked over a bbq and a healthy douse of Maitre d’hotel Butter. the same combo can me made with chicken or fish of the day!
Bora Bora Pai Company
Located in town right before you get to town near a a religious town hall. She makes what is a favorite sweet snack called “Pai” which is like a turnover pastry. The tasty stuffings vary from Pineapple, banana, Coconut, goyava, sweet cream and Nutella. The owner is a local tiktok/instagram celebrity promoting her delicious pastries and neiborhood current events!
